Quick question, a family friend was paid their salary after resigning from the department of education. 2 months or something. Now apparently the DBE wants that money back. They apparently haven't signed any form of acknowledgement or anything and given the way our government screws us every month, please tell me there is a way in which they can get away without paying this back.

It's the same as the faulty bank transfers, you have to pay it back. At best you can delay it and get some interest.

Not a helpful reply but I always wonder why anyone would not make arrangements to pay it back immediately?

Unjustified enrichment.. money has to be paid back when asked for it..

Don't understand why the reluctance to pay back money that was not earned..

Especially since it's taxpayer money, and this forum represents a not-insignificant part of SA's increasingly tiny taxpaying base.
