---------------------------------------------

10 out of 10 for this guy!

It just says that local calls cost 11% more than a call to America and goes on to say that in some instances a local call is 108% more than a call to America.

Figures

In short:

> Local calls from landline to mobile at peaktime are at least 11.8% more expensive than a call from local landline to a mobile phone in the USA.

> Telkom to mobile in standard time = R1,89 whilst a Telkom call to a mobile in the USA or Canada will cost you 9,2c for a set period of time... (32 seconds)

> Can cost you up to 108% more to phone local than overseas.

He goes on to say that Telkom's mission statement says the following: "A leading communications company with a heart for our people"

Then the writer asks if Telkom could look after its clients for a change after it has looked after it own people...

:)

He then slams Telkom for their 11.2 Billion Rand operational profit which Telkom hasn't really earned because they are a monopoly. He says it is better to read 11.2 Billion Rand as... Eleven Thousand Two Hundred Million Rand!

Eleven Thousand Two Hundred Million Rand!
ELEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED MILLION RAND!

I'm always happy when these comparisons are made, just shows how much we're being shafted here.
I have an isdn line & usually use it after hours. However, last Friday i was forced to use my connection for some work stuff during the day, file transfers and a video link up etc.
I was on for just over 3 hours.
Worked out that it cost me R117 for that session.
Its quite rediculous.
