Why so much hatred.

In the case Grobler deliberately drove over the children he deserves to be punished, and neither was it his place to discipline the children. The guy has issues going around beating and slapping children and should be rightly charged for such offences. If he thought he could beat my kid I would have given Grobler a proper hiding myself.

It is best to leave this matter to the courts, since evidence seems to be for the most part witness testimony. The one side said the children stole the other said the children looked for corn to feed the chickens. I don't know the dynamics at play there.

Attention will be given to the hospital reports to better establish how the harm came to being.

Apparently the case has been postponed, again, to tomorrow for the bail application, when the actual hearing starts won't be soon.

I get the anger. Work your ass of and people just steal it. And these kids do not get jail time, even if you miraculously get the Police to do something in the first place. So i totally understand the frustration and the anger.
But then you go overboard like this moron and all your justified anger is out the window. The case is now about him, and not the theft. And he should get the book thrown at him, make no mistake. but these kids are now free to go steal again and again.
Grates my balls, we see it often on the farm in Lutzville. Fruit is taken as if it belongs to them.

A farmer around here shifted from cattle as it was just being stolen all the time (They will literally come with a truck and steal the lot) to mielies...

All of a sardine the area has a ton of roadside shacks selling...can you guess....?

Roasted mielies...

I don't promote theft. However, I need to understand how much was stolen to warrant attempt to maim them.

I think it is more a case of building up. small stuff everyday, and no repercussions. It build and build and he popped. And that is what i understand. Not support in any way, but understand he reached breaking point...

For me and if i work on our farm....
You see a patch of the squash as raided during the night, and low and behold at your gate there is someone selling squash. Do not even try to hide, these lads know nothing will come of it, legally. And tomorrow he sits there with your pumpkins.
After a week of openly stealing and selling your foodstuff i am ready to bliksem the oaks, do not care what happens. And that is when my wife take me back home

Reacting like this for children stealing corn? clearly has a few marbles missing

I am trying to piece this all together, where did you find that the children were stealing corn? It doesn't add up with Grobler's side of the story that the children were stealing corn.

The problem in SA if you white you by default a racist and guilty as charged.

Its now your problem to prove your innocents.

The second issue is petty crime, what does one do about recurring crime that is starting to make you broke, the police don't want to do anything about. If a farmers crops gets stolen, police says not their problem, what do you do?

That's tough especially since they're so young.

As someone with experience in this.
You do not even notice someone stealing a checkers bag full.
You notice when they steal big bags of the stuff, in plain daylight, non stop.
So then you confront them, and they laugh in your face.

Those kids probably knicked a little bit...

But the farmer has probably lost tons to others and just lost it when he saw the kids and unfortunately they received the pent up anger...

Then again who knows these days...tensions are pretty high across the board...

Coming from the police

Mdhluli said the attack happened after Grobler accused the children of theft.

"The matter was then reported to the police and after an investigation was done, the man was immediately arrested the same afternoon," he added.

versus Grobler's side,

Google translated,

According to a report by an independent investigator, Grobler's bakkie slipped on loose corn leaves and he was therefore unable to stop in time.

"It was a tragic accident. There was nothing malicious about what happened. Louis also insisted that the police and private ambulance be called immediately, because he only wanted the best treatment for the injured children."

According to the source, the injured children were transported to nearby hospitals and one was discharged the same day.

Apparently the police could not get to the farm immediately as they did not have a vehicle. After Grobler apparently insisted that the police come out, a special vehicle was called which arrived more than an hour later.

The source saw no sign of the third child Grobler allegedly assaulted and was therefore unable to comment.

So... which party was first to summon the police? Just know that the police investigation concluded this as attempted murder. If Grobler acted out because of theft, the police can establish their motive and intent, hence have a case for attempted murder, if there was no case of theft, then the police would need to discover a new motive and intent.

Nope, unless we are deviating and now applying GrootVoet's law.

Whole thing still not clear and definite as yet..........
Shouldn't be stealing in the first place.
What if the farmer called the police would they have done anything.
It begins with one or two stealing corn then next it's a whole gang, where will it end.

Not justifying the act but it washes both ways.

"This will serve as a deterrent to other farmers not to infringe on the rights of workers and dwellers alike in farming communities. We should, therefore, allow the process to unfold and the case will be closely monitored," said Shongwe.
Is it a right to steal what you want?

I see the skies glowing red over this farm soon.

Police didn't have a vehicle and after borrowing one took more than an hour to come to the scene.

Sounds about right.

The system is broken and hopeless.

He obviously thought them playing with the corn was theft
