Fastest Home ADSL installation time you've had ?

Hi,

Only last week did I decide to order my residentual ADSL line.

I've heard all the horror stories about 2 to 3 month delay, but they assure me 6 weeks ? I doubt this - even though everything is in place (there are lines, exchange accepts ADSL etc). My question is, what is the shortest you've had your HOME ADSL line installed ?

i ordered mine on a wednesday and by thursday evening i was up and running

19 days is pretty good actually ... I did the order on the 3rd and I've just called : they don't even have a DATE as yet.

Photon - you're excluded ;) I've just read about you and you apparantly know someone

20 odd days for me.

Being 3 months for a friend of mine. still no word. Telkom guy even crapped on him for calling and asking when it would be done because he called yesterday when the techie was gonna pitch. Appointment for installation date as made for 3 days ago and Telkom crapped on him to trying to follow it up. Absolutely ridiculous.

My friend applied in May and he is still waiting. I applied after him and three weeks later got my 'self install' letter from them. :p

Does anyone know why DSL lines take so long to install? When I ordered Iburst, they delivered my modem to me the next day.

ordertracking: they are doing the conformancy testing

So it seems to be either 20ish days - or months and months and months ! *sigh* I haven't even heard of that conformancy testing - they never mentioned it

ordered my line on a friday morning @10am and was installed the Saturday @2pm
not to bad for telkom

Ordered mine some time last year. After 3 months they could still not give me an installations date nor did they fix the error they made with the order (ordered a bundle, they wanted to supply the service minus the modem). So I told them to stick it and went to NoWire. Went in the morning, paid all the charges, took the modum home and were "on the air" by 11:00am. After 14 months on NoWire, I wish that I was more patient. NoWire started great, now, well lets but it this way, I can't wait for my contract to end, as are many more!!
