Was Fatal1ty at rage? cause some say it was him playing in the Quake 4 comp and got beat by a SA guy but he named himself fatty...

Strange, about a second after this post, was on the Arena 77 site & it says at the bottom, Fatal1ty will be there so I suppose this thread is actually quite useless..oh well :)

This year's rAge 2006 expo took place this weekend at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa with many top Quake 4 players in attendance. CPL World Tour champion and gaming icon Jonathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel decided to show up with his second appearance in the country after a previous promotional tour. American Steel Rafik "LoSt-CaUsE" Bryant and alltherage's British Half-Life 2 deathmatch master Gareth "GaRpY" Marshall arrived as well to prove their worth in a country which doesn't see much action. Much of the local South African Quake 4 scene came out, including Nico-Louis "Mielie" Joubert, and South Africa's best Quake player for a long time and multiple ESWC/WCG representative, Stephen "Ph4ntom" Cloete. The home of chrome sent two representatives themselves, with Alana “Ms.X” Reid and Therese "trito" Andersson showing what girl power is all about, albeit neither would even make top 8 at the end of the day.

In the upper bracket semifinals, Bryant dispersed Cloete down to the loser's bracket rather easily while Marshall showed he was in top form by knocking Wendel down as well. Bryant would go on to head to the finals as the winner bracket finalist, while Wendel stormed back to the finals through the loser's bracket taking revenge on Marshall from his earlier loss. Bryant was pushed to the limit in the grand finals, having to go to two sets as Wendel was able to take an early victory. Wendel won the first game of the second set with a blow-out score of 31-9 and looked in good shape to make his comeback victory. The American Steel wouldn't have anything of it as he took his home map of Phrantic to send it into the final map of the tournament. Monsoon would be the decider and the map would swing back and forth until it stood tied 13-13 with under a minute to go. Bryant was able to pull out to a two frag lead and hold it to win his first championship.

Apparently he is very proud of his never been beaten, he prides himself on all the time he spends training, practicing etc. He is number 1, maybe not anymore... but he was /shrug
The way he went on it sounded like he was doing a exercise routine similar to a professional athlete, not physically but disciplinary.
All this is from an article I read bout him.

Yep, it's all good tho...similar to being his job, I put in similar hours and more in my job, so not too hard to believe...

Just a bit peeved coz I would love a job like that and get paid millions for it.
Can you imagine playing games for a living and driving a Ferrari to boot? :D

Well, not many people knew he was there because it wasn't as advertised as last year. ;)

Last year it was advertised all over South African sites and millions of people came along to RAGE to not just watch, but actually challenge him themselves. :)

Jonathan deserves the respect, since he worked himself up to the top spot and isn't simply playing games. He's managed to create a brand and partnered with big-name companies to ensure excellent revenues. Well done, IMO

I also wouldn't mind, but I'd hate all the pressure on you when playing in a competition, i mean I've only been to 2 and I absolutely hate it when people watch me ;)
