The appellate court overturned Judge Cannon's ruling. Trump can only get so far by handpicking Federalist members to coddle him. Ultimately this is going to come down to the legality of his possession of governent documents.

DOJ can resume criminal probe of classified documents from Mar-a-Lago, appeals court says

“It is self-evident that the public has a strong interest in ensuring that the storage of the classified records did not result in ‘exceptionally grave damage to the national security,’” the three-judge panel stated. “Ascertaining that necessarily involves reviewing the documents, determining who had access to them and when, and deciding which (if any) sources or methods are compromised.”

if you caught any of the Hannity train wreck last night, you'll know that this is a pic of the exact moment Joe reclassified everything Donny declassified just by thinking about it...

That's how this works now, right?

Why would they have allowed him to take ANY documents from the White House when he left? Surely they had people packing for the Trumps to get them out? Surely someone should have been checking if anything untoward was happening?
And surely they have records of data that was accessed. Hell, it's all in a server log.
1. He was POTUS when he ducked with the paper (and entitled to the paper until 20 Jan 2021)
2. There are logs of the secret paper docs (well there are supposed to be). Thats one of the reasons why they knew he had some
3. They tried really hard to get them back

The day I stop working for a company, generally, they want all their hardware and documentation returned immediately

It's absolutely astounding that Trumpettes think Trump-jesus was under no requirement to return anything

He would not have been POTUS when he left the White House. Anyways, since when has any other President of the USA been able to take critical documents involving national security from the WH when they left office?

He didn't take it when he left which was (debatably) within his purview
He however did _keep_ it after he left and then only returned some - this is the primary bone of contention

Aha, noted! Surely when you're no longer the President and in the employ of the government you return all "company related" material?
Hell, we all have to do that.

Yeah that's my point here
The absolutist Trumpjesus cultists believe he had absolute power to decide what to declassify, when, how, and if he should return anything ever

But even his removing them whilst POTUS would have been questionable if he was storing them in a non-secure location as far as I understand.

Melania: Donny, I need a box for my panties for the move.
Donny: Just use the box with the nuclear documents I have stored in the shithouse, honey.
Melania: Won't that be a problem?
Donny: No, I declassified, them!

Haaibo! His office had great security! He even had a password for his Chinese cameras, passwords are great aren't they, he used passwords, thats security. He even proved it by pasting it on the wall of the guest area in the country club in which he lives.

Now stop with the fake news about it not being a secure location.
