Hello
Very interesting letter. I find the complaints you have to be ridiculous.
Everyone knows that your bandwidth will fluctuate to a certain extent
regardless of your service provider and the bandwidth an ISP advertises is
the bandwidth to your ISP, not to the rest of the Internet!!
Also I have found my signal strength and connectivity to have improved
significantly since installing sentech. It improved even more after I
installed a FIRE WALL AND PROXY SERVER (FYI: something that helps to make
your Internet connection FASTER and MORE STABLE) for my network. I have also
found that cloud cover and electrical storms do interfere with the signal,
but not for "unacceptable" times. They also do maintenance from time to time
which is also not an "unacceptable" break in the service.
Maybe you should take the following into consideration: You are paying a
flat rate of only R650 per month (at least I am) and you are not paying it
to Telkom who's service is even worse. You are also supporting a NEW service
and teething problems should be expected.
Maybe if Sentech get enough customers they will be able to ELIMINATE THE
MONOPOLY TELKOM HAS ON INTERNET COMMUNICATION!!! and neutralise the
government's choking grip on the South African Internet Industry. Maybe your
International Bandwidth will pick up if someone upgrades the outdated
exchanges and networks Telkom force down our throats!!! maybe we could even
see them force Telkom into providing FREE LOCAL CALLS for their customers or
other services they ADVERTISE and don't deliver on in order to retain
customers!! (Like the "WE WILL HELP YOUR BUSINESS - THE NETWORK THAT MAKES
BUSINESS WORK" BS they proclaim!!) HELL!! Since Telkom practically OWNS
Vodacom ANY competition will be great!!
Advertising campaigns are what they are: A means to get customers to buy a
product. If you can't read between the lines and get duped into buying
something, don't go crying to the government!! Surely you read their
contract before you signed it and you must have realised the risk you
undertake in signing it, but sign you did. You were probably too starry-eyed
about the idea of downloading movies and MP3s at 128 KB per second for only
R650 per month, am I right??!! ADSL adds proclaim 512KB/s connections and
everyone goes WOW!! until they install it and realise that as I said, the
bandwidth only reaches 512KB/s between yourself and the ISP where it will
have to negotiate with other users' traffic to go anywhere else.
If you want dedicated bandwidth, maybe you should consider $$$ DIGINET $$$!!
LOL!!
I think Sentech is GREAT and I will continue to support them and tell
everyone I know about their service.
At least we can rejoice in the FREE SPEACH we all enjoy, hey?
Have a NICE DAY
