This guy was speeding and jumped a red light. By all means, chase until you can get a valid ID on the vehicle. But she shouldn't have actively engaged until there was backup.

That is not true, plenty of female officers are fit and stronger than the suspects they detain, perhaps SA isn't always the benchmark for these role-models as even many male officers wouldn't always win in a 1v1 scuffle.

In this instance, it seems that the officer had no time to react as she turned her back on a motorist whom she didn't expect to attack her. Many men would also be caught off guard.

It says quite a lot about the coward that had to attack a woman from behind, I wonder if he will be as brave when he lands up in jail.

It happens plenty time on the videos I watch on TV, officers, even male officers are ambushed by suspects, ran over by fleeing suspects and random people do step in to help.

Even fit and strong women would need to use other methods to subdue suspects, be it pepper spray or tazers, as women are biologically not as strong as men, even really strong ones will fail against the average male.

I can assure you that many women are as capable as men, not in the defense of feminism, but there is a whole porn category dedicated to men having their asses kicked by amazonian women.

Many male officers are not always in the position to to take on suspects without tasers either, a situation can change dramatically once you are in grappling range and the suspect can reach for your gun/stab you/put you in a chokehold.

The reality is that it is not easy to subdue someone in a one on one situation regardless of their sex.

Wait your proof is a porn category? You know most porn isn't real right? But okay, don't believe me that the average man still stands a better chance against a women, I mean it's not like there are many biological factors in place that make men stronger. It's not an attitude thing, it's a biological thing, men are inherently stronger.

I am saying that the average male is not as strong as you believe, which is why the news story probably focused on him being a fitness trainer. We can also assume that this isn't the first ever suspect the woman has had to apprehend, since she is in the k9 unit. I agree that men are biologically stronger, but you also need to train your body to be a certain way, which is why the guy had a career as a fitness trainer - it doesn't come naturally to everyone.

The amazonian women thing was a joke so I didn't have to get into the nitty gritty of a career of arresting people requiring some physical demands.

In some areas I rather think this applies to all police officers.

She should not have done it maybe but was brave enough to do her duty, or try to.

Woman do not stand a much of a chance in unarmed combat against a man. On average, men have 60% more upper body strength.

Their odds get better with weapons, to the logical endpoint which is a gun where there is equality.
