Ferrari 458 Spider Crashes into a House then a Tree in a South African

This has got to be every man's worst nightmare: you've just purchased the car of your dreams and you're very excited about it. You're trying hard not to drive it faster than you should, but you're constantly failing.

Then, the inevitable happens, you lose control and 'God dammit, why is it that there always has to be a tree in the way?' Yeah, your brand new Ferrari 458 Spider with what appears to be matte red wrapping is all but totaled.

The guys at zero2turbo sent this in and they're saying the Ferrari has a temporary license plate in the window, which suggests it's a newly imported car.

We would feel for this driver, we really would, if it weren't for the location of the accident. The accident took place inside one of the residential estates in Johannesburg, South Africa. You know, those places where speed is restricted to 30 km/h (18 mph) so that kids can play safely and the engine noise is kept to a minimum?

Yeah, the guy wasn't doing 30 km/h. He probably wasn't doing 80 km/h (50 mph) either, but a bit more than that. You could say that this is karma at work, but even though he was clearly being an ass, it would still seem a bit harsh. One thing is for certain: this guy will never speed again in places such as this.

As terrible as the accident may look at a first glance, he might actually be pretty lucky. The car only appears to have sustained damage in the front section, and that can easily (albeit costly) be repaired unless the chassis is also affected. Had the rear - where all the important bits are located - been involved as well, this guy's new Ferrari would have surely turned into an ex-Ferrari.

Looking at the crime scene, we can't be sure about how it all happened. It's clear the car hit the wall before stopping into that tree, otherwise the poor plant would be in a much more horizontal position. And there also wouldn't be so many red stains on the wall...

How it managed to get to the wall and how it ricocheted from there into the tree, that's for the South African Police to decide. Our guess is he lost control during a right-hand turn due to unappropiate speed and managed to squeeze through those other two trees before hitting the house.

If you ask us, the construction company that built the house should capitalize on this as it would make for very good advertising.

The reason why most drivers hit a tree is because of the direction they are looking at - which happens to be the tree
