I know i'm maybe asking in the wrong country haha, but I know there are a few members who have travelled so maybe can assist me. I'm looking to drive from Germany to England in July, yes I know it is alot more expensive than flying but I think it would be a nice experience. So does anyone know what it would cost using the ferry from France to England or the underground or whatever other means of transport there is to get your car over, and where is the best place to look for info? Maybe someone has experience this so though i'd just try and ask.

You'd have much better luck asking someone in Europe.

LHD vehicle to RHD roads.... Wouldn't be my decision if I were renting a vehicle. Awesome trip idea though!

True story .. don't travel through too many countries as when you finally meet the UK border agency and tell them where you have travelled from, they might think you are a drug mule.

Driving a LHD car on the left is not an experience that I would relish. I have seen the problems that a friend of mine had with his RHD car in Germany. Watching him trying to get in and out of parking garages was very amusing.

Not to mention driving in traffic and trying to pull out to pass. OK if you have a spotter in the passenger seat.

Rather fly and hire a car in the UK.

Or drive to the ferry, return the car at the terminal, hire another one on the other side of the Channel and continue.

Or rent a Mclaren F1 :)

We travelled to disney paris on the Dover to Calais route last September. Think it was about £30 for the car which included four passengers. Fares vary greatly depending on the time you depart.

You'll quickly adapt to the steering wheel on the wrong side of the road but having a passenger makes it a lot easier.

If you are loaded, you can take the Eurotunnel from Calais to Folkestone(5 miles from Dover) for about 225 Euros. Takes about 25 mins :D

I think that you will find that as the OP is living in Germany he wants to use his own car. Drop off charges for rental cars from Germany to France would be expensive.

Please provide a link to a car hire Company that rents out Mclaren F1's, I would like to try one.

A good alternative is to take a ferry from Rotterdam to Hull, UK. (check P&O ferries)
Not many people know about this option.
I personally have not used it but know many people who have and all of them had no complaints.
Hope it helps.

If I was on a ferry to Hull i'd be hoping it would sink before we got there.

Or Amsterdam to Newcastle if you are going further up north. It's an overnight thing with lots of bars and entertainment etc.

lol...I remember going there the first time - expecting the worst with everything I heard but it wasn't that bad.
I do remember it was quite cheap (price wise) for drinks.
