"Pretoria residents are languishing under the crime wave while the ANC forbids them to secure their neighbourhoods by fencing off their residential areas, spokesperson councillor Conrad Beyers said.

He said numerous criminal incidents, including murders could have been prevented had the ANC not implemented a ban on street closures and erection of fences around neighbourhoods in 2002.

The right to wander where you want is greater than the right to crime free living.

Then I guess we'll be sure to 'wander' into your house with our shotguns and help ourselves to your goods your daughter and your life and we'll throw in a bit of torture while we are at it.

I disagree completely with your statement the right to safety far far outways the right to 'wander' imo. Besides you can't 'wander' much if your dead.

Vio: I dont think piesangtree meant it like that. I think he made a statement that encapsulates the general feeling of the government rather than his own. But again, just my opinion... *waits for piesang to make a comment*

Angelo : so its ok for the members of Parliament to reside in a "secure" complex with access control, but if every resident in a designated area, that ISN'T a thoroughfare agrees to get access control, its not allowed?

Thats more than just a little bit hypocritical, but its what we're coming to expect from this government.
