Howsit guys

A few noobish fibre related questions, I have tried to do as much reading up as possible with regards to these questions so dont flame me toooo much :) .

4 weeks ago some contractors started marking out for fibre right outside my house.
They have subsequently dug and installed the green conduit for the fibre.

When speaking to them they said they were installing for Telkom.
I was informed yesterday that I should go and apply for a fibre line now so that once the fibre circuit goes live they can then splice me into the network as soon as possible, so I duely went and applied for 100mbit link from Telkom in the interim (Can hopefully change if its an open network).

This has led me into some research and digging around with regards to ISP and how strict / limited i am with regards to who I can choose to be my provider. From the research it looks like I have to use Telkom as my line provider and then go with either Vox / Mweb / WebAfrica etc. Is this the way it works?

Secondly anyone able to confirm if the upload speeds on Telkom are 25mbit ot 10mbit on their 100mbit fibre offering?

On another note I am pretty excited about the prospect of getting fibre and hoping it isnt a complete disaster, just want to make the correct choice once off as it seems contracts be everywhere :)

Thanks in advance for advice.

Perhaps. The last people I spoke to were only complex focussed. I guess the private homes will be last on their list. I have given up hope for this. Will revisit in around a year and try my luck. Such optimism on a "friday", yay, marshmallows

Hey, it's a year later. Update? :D

So I am looking for ANY broadband provider in Benoni to supply my parents house. They are stuck with (at most) a 2Mbps ADSL line. I mean you cannot even have a decent Skype call on that.

Any ideas at all?

Looks like they are just outside the coverage area, but I have dropped them an email anyways. Thanks for the suggestion!

Did you get any response back regarding LTE coverage in your area? I'm also keen, since fibre is not an option as yet.
