Hi,

Can anyone help me understand the fibre situation in Century City - CPT

Does one need to procure your fibre from Century City Connect or can you somehow broke out with them and use someone like Cybersmart as an example, e.g. http://lightspeed.co.za/

Thanks,
Jerome

As per their site:

You can choose any of the accredited ISPs, CCC builds the last mile and the ISP provides the service over the last mile. You will deal directly with the ISP as per normal.

So you can choose any accredited ISP, but looks like they will have to provide you with the last mile, and by doing so probably milking the companies for that last mile access... wonder if they use DFA to install the fibre

http://centurycityconnect.com/business-users/

A total of sixteen accredited independent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have been selected by Century City Connect to offer connectivity.

Not sure if Cybersmart is part of the 16 ISP's, maybe phone them and find out, good luck!

Not sure I understand this, they might actually not milk the clients lol:

"Century City Connect is a carrier neutral ‘last mile’ open-access network over which a select number of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) offer those living and working in the 250-hectare precinct revolutionary voice, broadband and multimedia services. Because Century City’s fibre-optic backbone is carrier neutral, clients are able to choose which of the accredited ISPs’ package best suits them in terms of voice, broadband and multi-media services, as well as costs."

They are not.

As far as I am aware there are only 3 ISP's.
Amobia
and I can't remeber the other 2...contact Century City Connect for the list.

Amobia is the cheapest.
