Hi All
Recently i relocated to Hyde avenue, Eldoraigne, and realized there is no fibre availability in the area, and adsl is limited to 10mbps, according to Telkom, its on the future fibre roll-out plan.
Anyone know of any other fibre providers in the area?

Hi
I stay not far from you, fibre was already trenched last year january and since then we are waiting and waiting and waiting. A very small block in alan, colin and part of hyde and janet went live more than a month ago. No indication what so-ever from openserve when the rest will follow and no ETA or reason why the rest has not been activated as well. Our area has seen numerous delays from openserve and again with no explanations from there side. They are one useless company!

Regards

I had the Openserve area manager come to my house yesterday, asking for access to the premises. Some of the workers have been to our place 5-6 times over the past year, wanting to complete the last work required. Apparently there's a couple of houses in Kort street that they have not been able to finish, due to problems with access to the fiber boxes. The fiber in that street is not trenched, but running on the old Telkom poles between the different properties and cannot be accessed from the street. He mentioned they have been trying for months to complete the area, but people aren't at home and they struggle to get access.

Once they've completed this street, and Telkom comes for the inspection to sign it off, then the entire Eldoraigne where they have completed the trenching will be able to be lit up. He reported if they can finish this street this week, complete inspection next week, we should have active fiber connection by the end of the month.

Holding thumbs the people in the street wake up and open their properties to the poles in their backyards.

Hi VicB

How did you get the Openserve area manager to visit you, I would really like to hear his explanation why after 17 months since they start trenching we are not live on fibre yet. About 3 blocks in Eldoraigne X0 went live 2 months ago and nothing after that. I am so gatvol for these clowns.

He was leaving some openserve documents with his contact details at every house. It's a letter stating that Openserve is doing the trenching / fiber installs and that he requests access for his work teams to complete the work.

So I had his details. A couple of months later he actually went house to house to all the premises where the work was outstanding, asking for access.

He came to my place asking access so his workers can stand the ladder in our property, but get access to the pole on the property of our neighbor's yard across our backyard.

Send me a PM if you want his contact details.

Hey folks,
I live in the area too, close to the Matsport Centre in Ireland Ave. I've also been eyeballing the coverage map over the last few months as part of Edwards and Ewalt roads both went live within the last two months or so. About a month ago it seems that they needed to retrench part of Henri road - I'm curious now to know what has happened to rest of the rollout in this part of Eldoraigne.

If you're willing to share, I would also like the contact info for the openserve guy, please.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

I'm actually quite close to you and also in a pink area. Been waiting for ages for something to happen and in the past weeks they trenched to my house and there's ducting there all ready for the fibre. Just waiting for the area to go purple so I can order my line.

If you'd like, I know Axxess allows pre-orders. Dont know how reliable their system is though.

So I met a technician from Openserve at the exchange on the top of Hyde Avenue yesterday who told me the area should go live with Fibre in the next month, however he did not sound very convincing, but let's hope he is correct...

We were told that Telkom did not pass the inspection of the repaving works in our complex so they had to repave all the dug up bits. Nothing after that

Just seen today that parts of Eldoraigne have come online with Fibre. Time to order my line has arrived!

Any suggestions on a line provider. Dont need data. Just a line. My first thought was afrihost. But I'm reading quite a few bad things about them on this forum. The same with Axxess. They've come in as the cheapest regarding fiber lines and low data cap.
