Does anyone know how much power a fibre CPE uses? If you have one you should be able find a rating in watts, amps and voltage on the device somewhere.

I want to know for setting up a backup power system fyi.

I'm trying to figure out if I can run it with some routers and cctv hardware from a minimal back up system, so I won't have that much to work with.

I'm sure most will be about what Johnatan56 stated. If anyone is on Vumatel, I would like to know what yours is please.

5,5 watts will cost you less than R 3,00 a month. There are small losses in the plug-in power supply, maybe 5%

I run my whole system, plus all the house lights and 4 plugs, from a 4kVA inverter connected to PV panels and batteries

That is not a bad price. What is the rating of the charger? In other words, how much is it able to send current to the battery as measured in amps?

6.4 amps is a little small, so I would not run anything that draws more than 0.6 amp (600mA). Even alarms use a 7.0 or 9.0 a/h battery

Have no idea what the charger current is. I understood the product as outputting 6.4 amps at 12v (and therefore being able to run 6.4amps of 12v devices on it) but maybe I misunderstand.

Thread resurrection and a little bit off topic, but also related.

If I connect this CPE to a battery backup, the voltage can be anything from 11V to 14.4V, depending on whether the battery is charging or discharging. In the spec sheet it says 12V AC or DC, and nothing more. I'm not an electronic boffin, but I have seen that quite often electronics can function over a range of voltages, making the above range a non-issue. Has anybody successfully connected their device to a battery backup? I don't want to go and blow the thing...

I've connected two different cpe's and they survived so far for a few months. Max voltage on mine is 13.8v when charging. I've tested 5.5 hours on battery from a 7ah battery running cpe, router and ap, power had then been restored so not sure how much longer it would have lasted.
