Hi guys. So fiber has been laid in the south since December 2017 but when you check availability on the ISP website is shows as no fiber in our area. Does anyone know what is going on.
Vodacom is installing fibre in oakdene.

Does anyone know when Vumatel fibre will go live in Ridgeway?

The guys have been testing the boxes at the fence perimeter and I saw a bit of fibre work at the Spar in Swartgoud but all seems to have gone quiet.

they're still busy splicing, testing etc.

Vuma have been pretty poor in communication, their 'fibrehood manager' is pretty unresponsive on emails, their social media team ignores dm's so theres that.

That said, the last email i did get from kieran.golden@vumatel.co.za around end of January said we'll most likely go 'live' toward the end of April

... Thinking there is more behind their "bad" communication at the moment.
... Everyone know how they came after Brackenhurst & Brackendowns Alberton to get them to have people sign up, well we got the numbers and was then rewarded with a ok, this is when we'll start trenching, (last year), followed by we have some delays, (we'll do it in Jan now which then became Feb) and then their sudden pull out / completely while busy when they ran into Vodacom contractors also trenching with really sh$t excuses, if you can call not excuses/reasons (while still trenching in Randhardt and Meyersdal).

Rumor... Vodacom is in talks of buying Vuma, and well this then all sense, no logic in having Vodacom and Vuma fiber in the same areas...

Anyone else hear about this?

I read Remgro/DFA was in talks to buy Vumatel.

https://mybroadband.co.za/news/busi...icas-richest-man-in-talks-to-buy-vumatel.html

On a side note, according to Vodacom coverage maps I don't have fibre coverage at my address, where as last week I did.

Like I said on the WA group it's nonsense.

DFA is in talks to buy Vumatel.

But it's currently all rumour at this point.

Remgro is a JSE Listed company. If they (or one of their subsidiaries) are involved in any such negotitions, the shareholders must be informed via a formal notification through the JSE (aka SENS).

I have check all SENS for Remgro for that past 15 months, and there's none related to Vumatel or DFA as yet, nor are there any that list that there are any form of negotiations in place that does not disclose the parties involved.
Only items found for Remgro relates to Unilever SA sale and Distell restructure.

Thanks Naeem for the info re "That said, the last email i did get from kieran.golden@vumatel.co.za around end of January said we'll most likely go 'live' toward the end of April "

My gutfeel also thought April was maybe more realistic.

Telkom line has been down for 1.5 months and now on LTE for the time being. Guess another month of waiting for fibre...

No. SENS is published once the deal is struck - not before.

Tend to disagree. You would normally find an announcement that reads per below (no disclosure as to what is actually going down). The fundamentals of the deal I agree, are only announced either once the deal is finalised, or once the terms are known (for shareholder approval deals).

Cautionary announcement

Shareholders are advised that the Company has entered into negotiations, which, if
successfully concluded, may have an effect on the price of the company?s securities.

Accordingly, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the company?s
securities until a full announcement is made.

You just quoted a bland cautionary announcement which is not the same as a transaction SENS. You have to announce when you have price sensitive information unless you keep it confidential. You keep it confidential until you sign. Stock standard 101 deal structuring
