So I have been lurking the fibre forums for a while now, since Openserve started digging up the pavements in our area. I know there are other threads about the installation process, etc, but I still have a question or two.
So they started digging up the pavements and about 4 months ago. I can only assume that they installed conduit or piping in the trenches for the upcoming fibre roll out. In our complex, they replaced some of the concrete manholes with new plastic manholes and closed everything up again. The trenches were also filled again and Openserve/Huawei went quite for the next 2 months.
In the past month there was quite a bit of activity with contractors laying fibre in the area, using the overhead poles, but nothing in the vicinity of our complex. I have also seen a guy sitting by one of the manholes splicing fibre about 500m from our complex.
So last week Thursday, they painted numbers on the manholes in our complex (circuit numbers?) and dug up the conduit by the entrance of our complex that was inserted a while ago. Yesterday afternoon they were pulling an orange fibre cable from the corner of the street to our complex gate (around 200m).
Now from what I can gather is that there is fibre in the ground, up to the complex gate. There is also a conduit to my unit as there is a manhole 5m from my front door.
What is next in the installation process and what are the time frames like?
Obviously they still need to splice the fibre and lay fibre in the complex, but what comes after this before "go live"?
