We'll have to wait for biena to hit his cap this month ;) and report back to us ... :D

Well the bad news, it is not 2Mbps when capped, I am getting 300-400 kbps.

Maybe 384kbps to make it feel like the good ol' days ?

PS: Love your work - what timing!

The Do gaming add-on is available for R49 :p

I actually do not care about the throttled speed, had to dl linux distros just to burn the rest of the cap (+- 20GB)

Welcome to the Waiting Game!
Out of interest, which ISP did you opt for ?

Web Africa solely on the basis that only my line is on contract. I'll be testing a few ISPs once I get going and will settle on the best performer.

You mean a regional VoIP number, or a real analogue voice line ?
If you mean the latter (which I doubt), that would just be a normal analogue voice line from Telkom at R166.50 pm + call fees. No connection (physical or accounting) to your fibre service at all.
[/URL].

Kind of was looking to have to Telkom line moved over to the fibre and just plug it into the CPE. Currently paying the R185pm but know Telkom fibre people don't have to pay this to have a voice line through their fibre.

However thanks for the info on the VOIP options. The VOIP solutions seem more affordable but going to have to look through the ones that allow me to keep my number.

That's interesting - I didn't/don't know of such an option. I'd seen the "unlimited fixed-line calls" add-on for Telkom's fibre deals, but I'd assumed that that referred to having a good old analogue line in parallel.
Let us know if you find out different!

SwitchTel can certainly do that (port your old number) - R150 a pop. They also sell analogue phone adapters for the case where your fibre endpoint device(s) don't have analogue phone ports.
Check out Azimuth's thread here on how to do it and how it performs.

Yes you can get a VOIP service from Telkom, You still pay for it, R200 per month.
Was told that I could transfer any telkom numbers I had.
