Fibre networks comparison

Greetings,

I would like to know set up times of each fibre network just to see if Vumatel is terrible or if it's across the board. We were approved in February 2018 for fibre rollout, they then proceeded to contact the council to get approval, took ages to hold the town hall meeting, and they finally started laying down cables with an ETA of May 2019(previously was around Jan-Feb 2019)or so for the entire suburb. Is this the norm? I'm pretty sure I read somewhere the usual expectation is 6 months from approval date.

Regarding Vumatel
Our rollout started in June 2018
Most of the suburbs went live by December. Some were live much earlier. It all depends.
We had the issue with the work being sabotaged by some business forums, which led to vumatel stopping work for slightly more than a month.

Great, either you're lucky or my suburb is unlucky :/.

Openserve recently went live in Wierdapark Centurion.

The area was in the light pink future fibre forever but once the work started it only took like 4 months to be live. The contractors were working on Saturdays and Sundays too to get access to the polls in peoples yards because during the week people are at work.

They were super quick actually and fibre went dark purple on 24 December 18.

Once Openserve starts work it moves quick.

From enough interest shown to rollout took how long?

I've built networks for a number of infrastructure providers.

Vumatel is actually not bad + their networks are top class. True tripple play quality. I doubt that you'd be able to run triple play on a Telkom fibre line. Too much noise and too many bad splices.

In my area, Frogfoot was first to give notice that they will be laying fiber and then gave a go-live in Q4 2018
Next came Vumatel.
Then Octotel.

However,

Octotel has been live since October
Frogfoot started tranching when Octotel moved on and set their go-live to December and now March
Vumatel went from "build in progress" to nothing.

Glad that we have Octotel though!

That I don't know. I never showed interest as it was already marked for future fibre. That was in July 2018. I just noticed the Openserve splitter box that was installed on the pole in September 2018. 24 December 2018 fibre coverage map was dark purple and I placed my order. Fibre was installed on 4 January 2019 and been working great ever since.

My complex has vumatel and SADV. Vumatel infrastructure was terrible and they only care about connecting as many as quickly as possible. Customer service is as horrendous.

SADV installation took a really long time but the workmanship is amazing and so far custom service was great.
I was even called once and asked if my fibre was working while at work, had no clue and confirmed with my wife to be correct. By the time I got home a technician was at the complex and restored the connection. From what I understood there is a some kind of a monitoring system in place.
