Seems we are being ignored for fibre installation by telkom yet areas live mt edgecombe and umhlanga which isn't very far probably like 8 ks away has fibre. We have a big population here mall shops and home businesses so definitely a need for it. Can any Isps come to the party since telkom choose to ignore and sleep and assist...thanks

The ISP's want to, it would be extremely lucrative as well in a dense area - even if they service a small area their upfront costs would turn profitable sooner than for most area's. Plenty of homes, people and devices consuming 3G/LTE that would love to consolidate to a single primary data provider like fibre.

Google Durban construction Mafia and you would see a reason for a halt in private companies rolling out their cables. The incompetent government is another, and the fact that they cannot identify and separate (or it is not possible to) the criminal element from their voters mean than policing is ineffective.

Your best bet is to pick an ISP sign up for fibre on their site to show your interest, then get as many people as possible to do the same. If they get X amount of people interested they may put your area on a higher priority

I'm pretty sure you posted this yesterday as well, anyway:

Vumatel stops rolling out fibre in KwaZulu-Natal
https://mybroadband.co.za/news/fibre/304066-vumatel-stops-rolling-out-fibre-in-kwazulu-natal-report.html

“Due to incidents of intimidation and threats made by various groups in KwaZulu-Natal, it is not safe or practical for the contractors to continue working in the field at the moment.”
You might need to stop your community members/business forums from being the mafia...

You could try to get your fellow KZN residents to not run a protection racket, or the community who wants fibre must protect the fibre deployers from those fellow residents. The ANC and police do not have the will it seems.

It's getting to the point where Neighborhood Watches need to be more like militias
