Fibre-to-the-home is killing ADSL

I wish, no fibre providers in sight for me. Still going strong with my 2mpbs (max available) ADSL :crying:

Telkom is still getting rich, a lot more now as I assume upkeep of fiber costs way less than copper

Telkoms Openserv has been busy. They almost lost market share to guys like DFA but are now taking it back. Although it would be open access networks, telkom still owns that infrastructure, thus still keeping them firmly in the mix.

If only .... I have the option of ADSL only ... no fibre or plans to stick it in .... apparently.

If only Telkom's / Openserves prices were killing ADSL................

TELKOM and ICASA is to blame...naked, cheap adsl rental should have been introduced to attract students and the aged.

Actually, I'm a student. I really really really want fibre. Sadly not available, so have to settle for th next best thing... ADSL.

Telkom is killing ADSL.
I suspect this too. The battery in our MSAN has died so when the power goes, so the the phone lines - no plan to replace it. People are gradually moving over to LTE options as prices come down with heavy users stuck with ADSL whilst waiting for FTTH.

Support calls are way less.

I spoke to an ISP's Senior Manager.
When they launched Fibre they thought they would need a Fibre Support Department

Turns out we dont log issues

You don't need to cuase shiat just works. New tech build from the ground up out of past mistakes.

Fiber is supposed to replace ADSL... it's a natural evolution of technology.

That is.... IF it's available in your area...
