So i went live recently in Fibrehood area and originally wanted the R899 50/50 package. On the FH site i chose the 50/50 package, but i got told, sorry this is now a Vuma managed area and u have to pay R1099 for the same package...

I know Vuma has purchased FH, but how can the justify the massive rise in pricing?

Different businesses, different methods of deployment. Vuma normally does trenching where FH does aerial.

Uncapped/unshaped.

@koeksGHT

Vuma usually does trenching, but we talking about a Fibrehoods area. So Vuma didnt do any trenching and has just taken over the management.

I Have just checked on their website and they have a 50/50 uncapped package for R848 from Cybersmart, maybe it's your ISP

@Sumen

I signed up now and went live in June. Even though the pricing on Fibrehoods website was 50/50 for R899. Cool ideas changed the pricing to R1099 (vuma pricing) because my area became a vuma managed area.

Right, It could be that Vuma has a higher line rental fee.

I feel ya OP. Fibrehoods area myself. Ordered a 50/25 package from Vox at R849,00... The Vuma buyout/switchover happened and that deal was off the table... Running a 50/5 connection for R949,00 now.

Same thing happend to me.
Applied in June thinking I would get 50/50 meg FTTH package for R899, now realise as they coming to do CPE install this week that its now R1099...my area was previously Fibrehoods too. Bummer.
Do you think for a family of 4 that the 50/50 is a good deal or rather take the 50/5?
Does the R1710 once-off Vumatel physical install fee now apply for installs post the takeover as per CI website? Even bigger bummer if it does.

There is a reason Fibrehoods sold their network, it wasn't feasible with their existing model. This is why pricing has been realigned with the Vumatel purchase.

Yeap install fee now applies as well as connection fees which we absorb, is a bummer for us as well.

Thanks PBCool. Not to derail entirely, but when does FB expect payment for once-off? After site eval and install of CPE?

Yeap after installation has been completed. They will allow payment terms as well.

I signed up with iConnect in Jan on a 75GB 100/50 at R609pm. All their packages have changed (ie. gone up!), the closest package now is 10/2 uncapped at R700! :wtf:

On FH btw

Price changes on the lines only apply from July onwards, all existing orders keep the same pricing until year end then all orders realign.

Also line speed offerings will be aligned to Vumatels from 1 July so no more 10Mbps for instance.

Hi Guys
I signed up for Iconnect through fibrehoods in May 2017. This was installed in June 2017. Vumatel are now asking for the R1710 fee.
Did fibrehoods have this fee?
I can't find anything in the application form I sent in.
It is quite frustrating dealing with Vumatel accounts as they take ages to reply.
