Russia played for penalties and look where it got them...
I agrre. I lot of the smaller teams have parked it, and ended up drawing or winning. The fact that they had 3 shots in the match to do that Vs 20 is something people are willfully ignoring

Sweden and England to go through today ?

+1

Though I'd love for England to get knocked out for that losing on purpose BS so they could go to the easy side of the knockout tree.

Commentary on the Japanese team from the Guardian's Swastik Basu.

He's talking kark. No way Japan was parking the bus on Belgium for a whole 40 mins even if they wanted to. Three of the most deadly goal scorers in the EPL are on that team.

They probably would have had an even worse result if they tried to play purely defensively.

Also hoping England get knocked out, can't stand the over hype and media hysteria. However they have a slight edge over Colombia so they should make it through. I'm just bummed it's not a 4pm kick off,but I'm sure I'm in the minority with that.

Yes Japan parked the bus but they didn't just park the bus, they defended with all 11 players and they attacked with all 11 players... when you say park the bus it's not park the bus for 90 minutes. It's when the opponent has the ball you put all 11 players behind the ball...

Japan played well they outran themselves trying to beat Belgium. In the end the height difference was a major factor - if they went into extra time it was just a matter of time before Belgium puts 2/3 more goals past them.

I specifically said "parking the bus on Belgium for a whole 40 mins".

Did you read the quote I was responding to? He was implying that only defending without attacking when they were 2-0 up would have been tactically superior. It wouldn't. Inviting consistent pressure on yourself for almost an entire half is a recipe for disaster.

*Sorry this post is going to be horrible but I just wish Neymar would break his leg so we are rid of his rubbish play acting and actually see him roll around the floor because his legs broke...

They should be booked for it imo. Go down, lay down for a sec or 2 and get up. The refs already made up his mind once he's blown his whistle for the foul.

FIFA should do this everywhere though .. when it comes to the World Cup it is already too late ... He's the reason I don't want Brazil to win ..

Football needs a citing commission like rugby, and if they find that a player was barely grazed, or in some cases not even touched, and acted like they had broken tibias, it should result in a 2 match ban, and increase the ban every subsequent time a specific player does it. It will stop quite soon after this is introduced.
