Guys

I would like some suggestions on a cool two player game that I can play with my son on the same pc. I enjoy talking and messing with him sitting next to each other.

If you can remember that far, there was the StreetFighter arcade game ... do you get something similar for PC?

We will be playing with 2 x Logitech Rumblepads so the game should support game pad play.

Gonna be taking leave this Thursday and Friday - wanna get it before then.

Thanks

The whole Playstation thing doesn't work for me. Got one and it lies there collecting dust. My wife does not even want to let me sell it.

I love my good old PC gaming.

Strangely enough I also noticed that you do not get a lot of fighting games for PC.

I'm afraid that fighting games aren't that available for the pc. Consoles are still the best for them.

Download fighters

I'm a rather big fan of fighting games. And sadly they are rather hard to come by. You can try downloading the ones in the list below. Some are Japanese, so you may not get the story, but hey I only wanna kick ass.

Beats of Rage http://www.senileteam.com/
Guilty Gear X
Little Fighter
Arm Joe
SCWU (Super Cosplay War Ultra) http://www.planetfreeplay.com/game/SCWU-(Super-Cosplay-War-Ultra)/
Ragnarok Battle Offline http://www.ragnarokbattle.com/

I've found quite a few more on Japanese websites.

You could also try MAME or Neo Geo roms, which are basically old arcade games, I've got hundreds of these.
Go to http://www.emuasylum.com/, for all the things you will need

Yes Ranarok offline is awesome also try:

Fatal / Fake

Really nice cell shaded 3d/2d fighting game made for PC

http://indygamer.blogspot.com/2006/03/fatal-fake.html

and This may help with MAME and ZINC (the 3d fighting game emulator)

http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/

If you are a bit more technical and your pc can handle it? You should definately try out Chanka (the Dreamcast emulator) so that you can play Street Fighter 3 Third Strike or Dead or Alive 2 or Soul Calibur

I know this isnt exactly legal but try emulators like MAME. They have so many fighting games for arcades made 8-10 years ago and lots of fun. It does support gamepads etc.

There are numerous sites where you can download the Street Fighter II rom, then all you need is MAME32 and you're set.

Sdd, it's a bit, uh, odd, that you'd rather buy two console style controllers to play console style fighting games, on a PC, when you have a console? :$

Most fighting games and 2 player co-op games are designed for consoles. It's also a lot more comfortable to sit in the lounge infront of a telly than cramming around a PC.

Each to there own I guess . . .

Thanks for the leads guys!

To be quite honest I am still a bit lost. Downloading is a problem for me cos I connect to the net using gprs (local infrastructure limitations - lets not go there)

I will google the other games suggested and see if I can get them.

Oh, Doobiwan, about the controllers .... this is what happened ... I prefer playing pc games with gamepad so got myself a Rumblepad ... them my son hijacked mine so I had to buy another one. If the game supports it, imho the gamepad is definitely the way to go.

cheers

Erm the SNES emulator is much smaller "Super Nintendo"

like 1 meg for the emulator and 2 megs for the rom

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo

Other MAME ones

the best SF game would be Street Fighter Alpha 3 about 20megs and King of Fighters 2002 which is about 40megs.
