I've had my ADSL for one month now and 3GiB per month really sucks.

Has anyone thought of renting a server overseas where bandwidth is cheap and writing an app that downloads and breaks files into chunks which are then e-mailed to a user?

A file transfer via e-mail system.
You e-mail the URL of the file you want to download (could be HTTP, FTP, BitTorrent, etc) and it downloads remotely and e-mails it to you in chunks which you assemble with an app.
Then you only need to purchase a cheap local account to download files from overseas.

Of course this would screw the ISPs and they'd stop it if it became popular. :)

I have brought this up a while ago already, people are not keen at all. You would have to get a way to send the mail localy otherwise it will count towards international traffic.

the reasoning behind that i wont go for, what i would support something like that for is some links overseas is moer slow, so would be nice if their servers could mail the files to you in "chunks" as its a whole lot faster to download email files than to download from a web server.

(almost like a courier company it should be)

Not 100% true, your mail servers and SMTP servers are hosted at your ISP. Meaning if you send mail to anywhere in the world it will go to the SMTP servers at your ISP which is local.

Thats correct, but if you start pushing 40+ gigs through your mail account, I dont think your ISP will love you much :D

If you do find one that does not mind, please PM me.
