If you supply the bumper, let's say it will take some guy 2 hours to fix it, you are looking at at least 1000, plus materials if they are charging 500/hour - hopefully it's less than that, and you'll get away with about 1000

So 1200 is about the going rate? If i give him the bumper as it is?

At a thumbsuck, I would say yes - but I have no idea what their labour costs actually are, because that is the n,i.g.g.e.r in the woodpile, unfortunately.

Yeah agree with you there, many indians though as well i should add, and there all "how much you got" in an indian accent:p

Another thing, whats an easy way to see they did a good job, that it looks smooth?

Cannot remember who it is but someone on mybb actually does whole car wrap, find out from him if it would work ?

Eg unfortunately it's not the fixing that's expensive it's the labour you're looking at R1200 upwards just on the labour front :(. I've had it where the part is cheap R500 but the total after getting it in was R4000 because it was labour intensive :(

Still can't see why he doesn't just buy a second hand bumper from a scrapyard and have it colour coded

Most picantos are white. So just get a white one and fit it, no painting.

Do you know how few scrapyards have picantos? Its like trying to find a hens teeth with a gold fleck.....
(Would be awesome to find more than choc in brakpan,)

Only one place i know of
Also ace branch there, they might have as well, bit again respray needed....

Got a few more quotes today, got for "special deal" everything all included repair R1000

Also going option 2 buying pirated, and respray, waiting to see what shock they decide on me this time,

I have to admit, i didnt belive it be this expensive, just out of curiosity whats the margins like on a repair like this?

Obviesly the bigger ones work with insurance, so they chatge more as the insurance pay and then rape you later......

But the smaller backyard operation ones, surely it cant be this much?

So go for the R1000 repair? I also though so,
One other question, is it dangerous/illegal to drive a car without a rear bumper attached?

Guy said he'll remove bumper off my car, fix it then reattach it.

Number plate is above, just worried if i get rear ended, if it can explode...

Should be safe... It's just a thin piece of plastic that absorbs impact at low speeds

You would be removing the bumper cover, not the actual structural part which absorbs impact. The fuel tanks are probably below the back seats anyway.
