Hi, I'm making my final car payment to MFC at the end of next month via debit order.
Will they contact me or is the responsibility on me to make sure the car gets transferred to my name?

Your responsibility, as in you phone them, then they send (courier?) you the papers (yellow form and title holder document and a letter saying you are payed up and authorising the transfer), then you go hand those in and complete the green(?) form and pay and you will get the title holder document

Just some advice. Don't procrastinate after you received the documents.

I just settled mine last week. Gave MFC a call and I will be going to my nearest Nedbank after 5 days.

They're supposed to, but lol, that never happens. You have to bug them until they do it.

Shame...

Jip, they REPEATEDLY (like 7 times in the 8 minute long call requesting the documents) told me do it within 21 days...

Yes. There are some documents required only valid for 21 days. Can't recall which ones though. When I open my filing again, I'll go and check.

You have 21 days to transfer the car to your name without needing to put the car through a roadworthy test. After 21 days you are eligible for a roadworthy test, which will cost you extra money.

Sure about that? My understanding is that rwc is always required on change of ownership.

In Terms of change of Title, no roadworthy required..... unless you're outside the 21 day window.
