Final South African elections 2014 results

More than 18 million South Africans voted in provincial and national elections on Wednesday, the country's fifth democratic elections.

Electoral Commission of SA chairwoman Pansy Tlakula announced the final results on Saturday evening.

The total number of valid votes cast was 18,402,497.

The number of spoilt votes was 251,960.

Voter turnout was 73,43 percent out of a registered population of 25,381,293.

Woah, so 6,978,796 registered voters did not vote...

Now imagine those were all DA votes, just for fun, we know they all won't be.
That would make the DA total votes: 11,070,380
ANC's current votes: 11,436,921

Prints a very different picture...

That said, that is in a dream world. How many of those registered voters haven't passed away?

According to analysts the ANC performs better when there's a big turn out of voters, so it's likely the they would have won with an even bigger majority had those people voted.

Think a million didn't vote in western cape. Might be wrong it's late. Why didn't a million people go vote?

- ANC 11,436,921 — 62.15%
- EFF 1,169,259 — 6.35%

68.50%

So how safe is the constitution if the ANC and the ultraANC aka the EFF vote together to nationalise something or bring in some of zimbob's policies.

While many have hailed the advances of the DA, no one seems to be noticing the danger lurking from any form of coalition between the 2.

Anyone know what the theoretical number of voters are? It should be available from the latest census ie residents over the age of 18.

The next election might be surprising. I anticipate more registrations...many people who thought its not worth voting "because there is no point" might change their mind looking at these results. DA is becoming more of a proper opposition.

Whoever the power/brain behind the ANC/EFF split is, hat tip to you sir. Kinda makes one think.

Why were PRISONERS allowed to VOTE ?

A lot of people had the attitude `why vote , what difference would it make'...
Some just assumed that the ANC being so corrupt would win anyway ...

It is a real pity though because things MIGHT have turned out differently ...

2009 national assembly seats:
anc 264 , da 67, cope 30 , ifp 18. 2014 change: anc = -14, DA= +22, ifp = -8, cope =- 26, eff = +25

They probably have some basic human right to vote? :p :p

Let's not talk about prisoners and social rights.

For those that are retarded - rights should go hand in hand with responsibility...

People are taking notice. I'd say eff was zuma's idea, making malema think it was his own idea, the way the Russian special forces work with Islamic militants.
