Fine status changed to "Cancelled - Notice has expired"

I received a speeding fine in Wilderness in 2012 (my wife was driving, I was drunk as the lord at the time), but there was no registration number in the pic. So I questioned this (via mail) and received a response that they're looking into the issue.

I haven't heard from them since.

I logged into payfine now for the first time in ages (just out of interest) and I see the fine's status changed to "Cancelled - Notice has expired"

Is there anything I need to do just to be on the safe side?

Did you have a warrant issued?

I was out of the country for two years and when I got back I needed to renew my vehicle licence disc. At the office the lady behind the counter said I had to first report to the traffic department as I had a warrant because of an old fine, which I didn't know about. I was a bit worried and checked online but no fines were showing up on any system.
Luckily I called in before going all the way there and the guy I spoke to said it's been cancelled because a certain amount of time had elapsed and he can remove it from the system while I'm on the call with him.
So if you do need to renew you license disc anytime soon maybe this info will help you.
