I received an unsolicited email from this company today. I never signed up for them, so I wonder how they got hold of my info? Their Hellopeter reviews aren't very positive, with lots of people claiming them to be scammers. Anyone else get these lately? I don't have any outstanding fines on my name, and they have a very sneaky way of letting you 'check':

Dear Motorist

Welcome to Fines SA (Pty) Ltd, the leading traffic fine platform and simplest, convenient & most comprehensive way to CHECK, SAVE & PAY your traffic fines to all 250 Municipalities across South Africa

We hope that you are well and safe during these unprecedented times.
Keeping your traffic fines up to date is now more important then ever in order to prevent warrants / enforcement orders from blocking your vehicle / drivers licence renewal or possible arrest !!
AARTO NEWS: A R60 fee is added to the original infringement amount for a courtesy letter if still outstanding 32 days after the receipt of the notice, after a further 32 days the fine status will change to an enforcement order and R100 fee is added to the amount, thereafter the NaTIS system will block you on the traffic system.
We suggest you always pay your outstanding fines sooner than later and without delay to avoid extra costs accumulating. Should the fine escalate to become an enforcement or warrant then no discount can be offered.
Pay No Admission of Guilt (NAG) fines urgently as these require a court appearance and are the most serious traffic fines resulting from speeding over 30kms more than the speed limit.
Please follow the link below to view your traffic fine statement which is ONLY valid for 7 days before your fines may then be liable for extra costs due to summonses / enforcements or warrants / courtesy letter fees.

YOU'LL SAVE R200

Let us know if we can assit you further. A safe journey is a good journey. Enjoy yours!

Definitely avoid, I got the same one last month as well, the biggest dead giveaway is referring to you as a motorist and not by name, and the link is riddled with trackers to ensure they'll bother you if you play along

I checked on that website and it shows nothing outstanding, so I guess these hacks are just trying to use scare tactics into getting people to pay up.

I wonder where they got the so-called 'info' from? I'm not willing to 'check' mine out but I guess they probably sourced the info from the ViewFines breach

I also got one. Never signed up with them though. Fine is from 2017, but I won't use these guys to pay it, if I pay it.

This mail just popped on my side, with an option to pay a "discounted" amount. They got my details right, including registration number, I wasn't in Mogale City on the date, though. According to Aarto site, I am clean. Surely this qualifies as fraud?

Very interesting, I got a call today from FinesSA, didn't know they branched out of email.

I had taken a longer trip prior weeks ago but I don't think I've tripped any camera's as it was a slower day. The person on the line couldn't identify anything about me when asked, provided a road I never drove, and only wanted to know if I received an email (I suspect for updating their phishing database) to confirm.

I'm definitely beyond 100% convinced that this company is fraudulent now.

definitely fraud it does not give a valid infringement just a number that means nothing. THIS Fake news make it even more fraud guaranteed "AARTO NEWS: A R60 fee is added to the original infringement amount for a courtesy letter if fine is still unpaid 32 days after the receipt of the notice, after a further 32 days the fine status will escalate to an enforcement order and R100 fee is added to the amount, thereafter the eNaTIS system will block you on the traffic system until a payment is made."

Hi there - I use these guys all the time and never had any issues. They are great and connect to all the systems and offer discount and NO service fees like some of the other sites. Call them to check if you don't believe.

Hi there - nooo - these guys are great - you should give them a try

I disagree - we have used them for years, there were Mekaish then acquired another business and seem to be the best in the market and you get a discount.

I think you should check the facts, these guys are great - never had an issue. Try them, I've been using them for years.

Hi there - I think you should check as I have always used this company and they are 100% - some people get confused with AARTO and the rest of the country which is on another system so Fines SA sends you all fines and offers a discount if applicable.

looks they did an update / change

try this

You need to understand that AARTO is only in JHB and Tshwane so they have both systems and send you fines across SA - no issued with them - they great

Love getting that when you try to go to the link:D
There is no point in checking AARTO if you live outside JHB and Tshwane as there are 2 systems so Fines SA sends you fines on a national basis and offers you a discount if applicable

There was an article about this? https://www.timeslive.co.za/motorin...ne-drama-with-this-new-online-payment-system/

Still I never gave them my email address or visited their site so I will be ignoring their email and them.
I can say that they are 100% legit - been using them for years.

Well for anyone who were still on the fence, this nice little "legitimate" account and reply pretty much confirmed that this is a scam... with a discount, of course.

Thanks for the link. Are all fines meant to be showing on there? Or are there other sites that have other fines?
i'm not sure hey that scam account says its only Gauteng- i only use that one and (not sure if i posted this on this thread) I use that to see what Enforcement orders i have - and pay those then i never had issues - I know a few times Joburg metro pulled me over - they would print out a list from their as well :)

I see you need to register now - cant check without doing that :(
