FinFisher spyware servers in South Africa: the plot thickens

nice work. i think i see the truth of the matter somewhere between the last few paragraphs ;)

If the servers were doing something illegal like downloading movies/music/p0rn,
telkom would in a flash, hand the information over to SAFACT/MAFIAA and
shame the owner in public without any questions.

Eish?! Houw?!

De Servar must fest take the drink orda

Going to take a court order to find out who is using that software in south africa .

"The spokesperson for the SSA said that it is the agency’s policy to neither confirm nor deny anything that might reveal information about its capabilities."

They will never admit to using the software. So we will never know who is using it, even if a court order is obtained they will fight it in court for years.

I notice that even the previously vague references to SATTI (South African Tiger Team Initiative) have disappeared from Google!

The spokesperson for the SSA said that it is the agency’s policy to neither confirm nor deny anything that might reveal information about its capabilities.

Loosely translated, that means the SSA wants everyone to believe that it is using spyware, and it is more of a confirmation than a denial.

The question we should be asking is "what person(s) are using FinFisher in SA in addition to the SSA?"

So why aren't we discussing the possibility of this being a bunch of scamsters from anywhere in the world spying on others (also anywhere in the world), possibly even piggybacking on a compromised PC from a Telkom ADSL user?
