Fire at Brakfontein 132/11kV Substation Disrupts Power in Tshwane, Restoration Efforts Underway

So I was running the washing machine of the generator. Now I don't know but washing machine specs in book says its is max 300watt.
But as the drum turn left and right the generator makes the same noise as the washing machine.
My LED light in kitchen was also flickering on the same beat as the washing machine and generator.
I switched everything else off but still the same.

Motors are pretty hard on generators/inverters. You need to look at the motor startup currents, element current etc.

Generator is 2000w
So safely can run 1600w constantly. What else is running besides the washing machine?
Though it's probably voltage related, cause I've noticed if I'm running on the solar and batteries are fully charged, the voltage spike that the washing machine does can sometimes make the voltage spike

Shouldn't be going over 1600w though

Traditional motors hate running from non sinewave power sources.

Also remember that 2000w gennie is probably putting out only 1600w at altitude in Gauteng.

Also another also. All of my 2000w and 2500w Chinese genies had a crappy voltage regulator, that usually fluctuates as soon as demand is put on it

Worse is the frequency fluctuations, if you can't get the thing to 50 to 80% load it spikes. When it's at 80 heaven forbid a fridge kicks in :(

Like I said in my first post. I switched off everything else and it was still making the same noise.

Maybe I will plug it in the Mecer inverter next time, see if it make a difference.
Which Mecer inverter? If it's pure sinewave that will work yes.
Cause I run my generator through the inverter and things don't fluctuate

No just the cheap 720w. Not pure sinewave. But maybe its wave is different :p
