Fire at Brakfontein 132/11kV Substation Disrupts Power in Tshwane, Restoration Efforts Underway

Protests continuing at Brakfontein.

Now we have rumours emerging that the workers have downed tools due to not be paid overtime. (??)

WTF.
How is that helping?
Helping would be to go and find the ***holes that pinched the cables and copper in the first place and let the chaps sort it out in peace.

I highly doubt the no overtime story, this is not just some random logbook fluffing.

Someone said Amberfield/Mall@reds got power and then it tripped again.

They said the load is too high to switch on the whole local grid and are going to try switch on smaller areas one at a time. I guess this means switching off all the substations and then warm them up and switch them on one or more at a time.
Hopefully that happens before they burn it down again.

Yes, not sure. Thus the ??. Rumour is Garsfontein also has issues and it was said they'd have to wait until tomorrow. If true, time to rename Brakfontein, remove the fontein and make it veld, vlei, dip or ... :p

I guess in the meantime it's a great opportunity for selfies by those in power of some sorts.

Probably lies because it doesn't make sense, overtime is paid at the end of the month along with your salary, you don't work today and get your overtime pay tomorrow.

Who the hell is deleting posts from this thread?

I'll say it again. Not a single worker or tool in sight.
The selfie opportunity is over now for the politicians. The rush is off. :(

Earlier:
The briefing at substation from electricity team to residents is still ongoing.

Unfortunately and evidently there are now unforseen challenges and from our understanding it relates to the one transformer that has been energised Sounds like this transformer requires 24 hour "soaking" process.

There are serious frustrations with residents which is fully understandable.

We await a proper update with accurate facts to be issued and will be shared as soon as received.

I got an update from another place saying they are down to a small team doing the panel wiring and work from 7-23:00.
The rest are only cleaning whats left of the carbon and smoke.
I'll be honest if they manage to complete the work in under 2 weeks they did a very good job I just hate the PR nonsense and poor communication.

The City's switching teams have now been authorised by the Control Centre to begin ⚙ testing at affected substations, including Wierdapark x2, in preparation for phased power restoration.

This includes areas such as the 🏭 Hennopspark Industrial Area, which depends on Wierdapark’s load-bearing capacity.

Key Points:
🔌 Testing is currently underway
🧪 Results will guide safe switching of supply
📢 Further updates will be shared once testing concludes

We appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to restore power safely and systematically. 🙏

Well they still claim that everything will be restored tomorrow. If everything goes to plan obviously.

The message hasn't changed for 3 days but they keep updating the % done.
I also see the spin is increasing so can only imagine that means things are not going to plan.

Anyways, its sunny till Thursday so I can carry on as normal as long as the water doesn't run out so am one of the lucky ones. I can only imagine how it must feel for someone who doesn't have a generator or solar must be mentally exhausting.
