AS TALKS FOR THE cherry picking of Telkom's fixed line and cellular businesses gather momentum, much is being speculated about the future of a leaner Telkom.

The one asset that iBurst has that Vodacom might not like to let slip through its fingers is the WiMax spectrum.

And that is it. Why go through the process of dealing with the government when you can just buy your way in? Just shows how bad it is to deal with government

Absolutely true - this is the single reason for the acquisition of a portion of iBurst - without which Vodacom's WiMAX plans would not get off the starting block!
I am of the opinion that Vodafone are fully aware of the importance of this spectrum as well.
