Hi All.

Over the weekend I signed up the for the TM LTE-A 50G deal.
For the most part I'm absolutely loving it, and reaching DL speeds of about 50Mbps (90Mbps late at night when the network is quiet).
Huge improvement from my 4Mbps ADSL line.

However, I've also noticed that every few hours the router drops completely for a few minutes.
This obviously changes the game completely if I cant get this fixed...

Any ideas???

What do you mean saying "drops completely"?
I noticed it both with Huawei B683 (3G) and ZTE MF-283 (LTE). Both routers were setup on manual connection, but it only applies to the initial connection after switching on. Router maintains constant network connection with PC, but it reconnects automatically to the tower when connection is dropped for some reason. It doesn't indicate dropped connection to the user, just Internet stops responding at times.

The connection between my PC and router is constant. But for some reason the router loses internet connectivity. I'm not sure if its a router/settings issue or just that the connection to the tower is lost for some reason.

I've just change the connection settings to Manual and 4G only...will see if that helps.

Have you checked if the firmware of the device is up to date?

hey

Yep, its the latest version

Im in bryanston, and just on the verge of deciding between the b593 LTE or the LTE-A e5186. HAd a demo tested both, LTE modem is quicker than LTE-A, (LTE-A signal is not available in bryanston but LTE is fully available.) im a technology person so going with LTE older modem not sitting well, as i would prefer the more capable E5186.

Im also keen on the 50gig package, but ive been trying to see whether there are problems. In addition to yours, i managed to get a hold of the guy who does a lot of the antenna installations and he is contracted to telkom officially. SPoke to him and he seemed to be pretty clued up, he mentioned there are IP addressing issues with the router etc. Maybe speak to him.

His advise was stick with the B593 LTE router, as the E5186 seems to have a lot of issues. om me and ill send u his number

If you have no LTEA coverage the you get 3G instead of LTE on the E5186. Imam on the lpokout for a device that supports 2100 (3G), 2300 (Telkom LTE & LTEA), 2600 (LTE/A others)
