South Africa's first true electric car — which once belonged to Eskom

The history of electric vehicles (EVs) in South Africa dates back at least 50 years, when the first self-powered EV landed on local shores.

EVs have seen rapid uptake in recent years, but the idea of powering automobiles with electricity is nothing new — it dates back nearly two centuries.

I’m gonna borrow that whenever I see an EV stranded at the roadside.

Another big plus for EVs is that cops won’t have to chase them around for hours on end. Car chases will end with the thieves bailing after maxing the accelerator for 30 mins.

Have they built anti-theft logic into EV charge stations yet? The vehicle charge circuit should have a public key handshake before it accepts juice.
