Hi

Are flash drives reliable to do daily backups on. How is the wearability and XP when drives are used daily?

Regards

It depends on how critical your data is. It's very easy to forget to eject your flash drive properly and this can cause data loss especially on Windows operating systems before XP. If your data is extremely critical, then the best thing to do is backup to media such as CD-R or DVD.

I have been doing daily backups on a flashdrive for some time now with no problems whatsoever. Using XP Pro

The recommended use of a flash drive, is as a data transfer device, rather than a data backup device. Most of the flash drive suppliers will tell you the same, especially when you return it after you have lost all of your important backups!

They are not a good idea for a backup as its really really hard to get info off them if something goes wrong.

for daily backups it's fine but would never consider it as a true alternative back up system.

its not like you need the data on their for 10 thousand years... just 24 hours. But take note of suggestions and warnings mentioned by others here.

and I think the most negative point about them is exaclt what Person mentioned. In the unfortunate event something goes wrong... well you're buggered.
