He must have been the only Mshengu in Venda. How old is he? trying to see if the story about the soldier father dying in the DRC when he was two years old adds up.

Chances are it doesn't..... a few things in the story are plausible but fall apart when you look at them closely.

I think his mom was from Venda.
He's Zimbabwean, couldnt even pronounce 'Makwarela' where he claimed to be from, his accent let him down in the radio interview after Durban July.

The SA id he bought claims he was born in 1995. Word on the street is he was a driver for a trucking company. White bosses listed him as shareholder for BEE status. Through intimidation he pushed them out of the company and took over. They couldnt pursue as they had illegally attained BEE coal contracts.711335

‘Trucker millionaire’ Sam ‘Mshengu’ attempted R40K bribe to avoid arrest – Hawks

The Hawks revealed in a statement on Monday that 27-year-old businessman Sam Chabalala, popularly known as Sam Mshengu of Sam Holdings, had allegedly attempted to bribe his way out of looming legal trouble last week.

It only made his troubles worse though.

Brigadier Hangwani Muluadzi said in the statement that Chabalala appeared in the Witbank Magistrates’ Court on Monday on charges of alleged bribery, corruption, possession of an unlicensed firearm and fraud in terms of contravening the Immigration Act.

He made matters worse for himself with the bribe. Is this then an admission that he received his citizenship fraudulently? Why would he want to bribe the Hawks' officials if his ducks are in a row?

His accent is definitely from the north, the way he pronounce "most", but it is hard to pinpoint it as Zimbabwean since there are some similarities between the Vendas and Zims in pronunciation.

His ID number above indicates born in 1995, we had troops in the DRC in 1997 at which time he was 2yrs old. Now the ID number could be fake and the sadf will have record of all troops that died.

Listening to the audio recording it sounds like he says he was two days old when his father passed away?

I don't think we had troops in the drc in '95 but I could be wrong. Think the joint operations division was only established in '97

He might have spent his formative years in Zim, before settling in Makwarela.
