Flights between Lanseria and George

Seems quite strange to me that no commercial airlines fly the route Lanseria and George. Has anyone any idea why this has never come about? Flights between ORT and George are generally fully booked and I am pretty sure that the same would be for flights to Lanseria instead of ORT.

I think the main reason is the size of the airport and all the current Mango and Kalula flights between Cape Town and Durban - also taking into consideration other African-based flights and small local aircraft operating from here.

My opinion is the airport is too small to handle all these additional flights to local areas in SA.

Surely Lanseria has got the capacity. Could just be that FlySafair and Skywise dont think there is a big enough demand yet to fly the smaller routes out of Lanseria.

Probably. ORT is also a hub for connecting with international flights.
