Most airlines give you the same matrix.

Another tip : Get the best quote from Travelstart or some other SA website and take it to Flight Centre, they guarantee that they will beat any price.

This.

They're probably the best walk in center in SA.

I was just there, it is best to withdraw cash from the ATM with your credit card.

Yes, you pay R45 a withdrawal.

You can on average withdraw 15 000 baht at a time.

So, I was sitting on a plane bound to Thailand some time last year. There was this 9/10 total hottie seated next to me. she was dressed VERY provocatively and i couldnt help but stare at her legs and ample bosom, she was also looking at me and smiling. I was like 'ohgod please don't get an erection'... but she did.

Thanks. You seem very knowledgeable regarding Thailand.

What are the conversion fees besides for the R45 withdraw fee?

Get a Cash card.

I got one of these cash passport cards for Europe and it worked pretty well. It cost a couple hundred bucks for the card and conversion fees.

Right now Im just comparing cash passport vs cheque/credit card. If they are similar its not really and issue but obviously don't want to be raped in charges due to me not doing any research.

From my calculations I will need about 25 000 baht for 2 weeks. Hotels, flights et cetera all paid for. Thinking of spliting that total into 4 and drawing cash 4 times or so. What is the swipe fee?

The exchange rate is about the same as what you get on the currency converter websites:

http://www.oanda.com/currency/converter/

There are no other conversion fees. Also if you pay with your credit card then there are no fees.

Your budget of 2000 Baht a day is fine, you will be able to eat and drink lekker.

A plate of Thai food is going to set you back about 80 to 120 Baht and a big Chang is 70 to 120 Baht.

Going on a sight seeing day tour that includes food is also 1000 to 1500 Bht.

Just remember in Phuket the taxi's and tuk-tuks are very expensive.

Thanks again man.

Transport, half of the meals and many activities are already included in the Contiki Tour. We will be spending a few days in Phuket and Bangkok by ourselves though.

Both are a great experience.
Bangkok for amazing shopping and all around great experience from a bustling city and Phuket for access to the islands.
We kayaked for a week in the Andaman Sea, it was an awesome experience.
But as I mentioned, Bangkok is also great.

No vaccinations required and you can use any two point plug.

Our three point plugs won't work.

Thanks. A few friends have universal adaptor kits or something so I'm going to take them with, hopefully it includes something that will take our three point plugs.

Not likely - you might want to change that cable to the adapter... or just buy yourself one at Capi on the international departures side. Our 3 pin plugs are pretty unique - I know Pakistan use them, not sure who else.
