Whats the problem? Now its even better for exhausting gases...
Redesign and redeploy..

Why do these incompetent fools keep spouting technical waffle at us in order to justify/explain their failures. Imagine any other service constantly unpacking the technical mechanics of why their systems failed. Who cares?!!! Make it work. You’re the engineers, you’re being paid to create a working design. Get to making it work and keep your BS to a minimum. It either works or it doesn’t. If you can’t make it work, step aside and get people who can do it. Zero leadership here.

Outstanding engineering there
They are designed that way and should be an easy fix. What worries me is, this power station is still very young, and I suspect that it wasn't to specification as they should last for many years before it needs repair/replacement.

These pipes are exposed to corrosive gasses and should have a protective lining to prevent this type of fatigue for several years. But they do need regular maintenance, as lack of maintenance can result in areas corroding faster than others, compromising its structural integrity.

Clearly, maintenance didn't happen, but it is designed to be repairable if it did. This should not be such a major setback. Eskom knows this type of thing does happen, and regular inspections should have been done. Each power station has a department dedicated to inspections. They should be held responsible.

That said, what makes smokestack inspections rather difficult is the fact that the boilers must be offline before any inspection can happen. But considering the regular outages of this plant, it is inexcusable.

I pity this child, She doesn't know any better. She is young and believe all the misinformation. If she only knew the truth.

The energies that she stand for, do more environmental harm than the so-called antiquated fossil fuels. There is no doubt in my heart that we can use fossil fuels more responsibly, but the mines providing the raw materials for renewable energy isn't any better. They generate waste, that waste is still toxic. If not properly handled, it will still pose a problem.
