Hi I haven't posted in this forum for ages, but you guys always have the anwers to the questions I can't find any information on.

I would like to find out if anyone knows the procedure and what one needs to do to fly with their service dog in the cabin out of the country. I am planning to fly to Israel through Elal and will be flying from Durban to Johannesburg first with either Mango or Kulula depending on who's cheaper and is more accommodating. Would be helpful if someone has already flown locally with a service dog and/or out of the country and knows the airport facilities.

I've attached pictures of my service dog Lucy 20181026_105053.jpg 20180827_122547.jpg

Thanks again

She is a legend, but what does this service dog do ?

Helps with Autism, Anxiety, Fibromyalgia and Narcolepsy. She keeps me awake and calm and helps me walk if I am sore and tired, reason for the handle.

Serious question: How do you deal with the dogs waste on a flight? Does it eject wherever it wants and you clean it up, or are they trained to a degree that they'll only **** in the margarine tub you carry with you?

If you train them well and don't feed them much or give them too much water they can go 10+ hours without needing the toilet. I've already been to a 2 day conference and she barely needed the toilet with the amount of water/food she had.

These links might be helpful with contact numbers for more detailed info.

BA :
https://www.britishairways.com/en-z...ssistance/travelling-with-your-assistance-dog
We're able to carry a recognised assistance dog free of charge in the cabin of all our flights. Here's more information about the service we can offer.
An assistance dog is one which has been specifically trained to assist a disabled person and certified by an organisation that is a full member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF), the accrediting bodies for assistance dog organisations worldwide.

Kulula:
https://www.kulula.com/flights/baggage/pets
Only service dogs will be checked in at the airport and are allowed into the cabin (just make sure you let us know in advance so we can get the Captain's okay)

Mango:

GUIDE DOGS/SERVICE ANIMAL
A service animal is defined as any guide dog or signal dog individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability.

Vision impaired Guests can travel with a guide dog if the booking is endorsed accordingly. Guide dogs or a service animal travel free of charge and may be carried in the cabin of the aircraft, but we do require that the dog is securely harnessed. A lead and collar are not considered acceptable harnessing.

Mango reserves the right to request proof that the Guest is dependent upon the guide dog or service dog. Mango only allows dogs as service animals to travel in the cabin.

Please note that a Guest must contact Mango's Medical Reservation Department to advise them that they require the assistance of a guide dog when travelling with Mango. Please call 086 10 10 214 to be cleared to travel.

Aye, she's a beauty :) I found pretty much what Daisy just posted above, seems they're all the same'ish, all about letting them know and having the documents to 'prove it'. Good luck with the process, hopefully it's smooth as and you can just get to your holiday.

Thanks helps quite a lot so I need to get a letter from health person and a vet permit, what I wanted to know. Just need to make sure her rabies injections are up to date.
