Snap. Lets see who gets a response first ;)

:D

Well I asked yesterday morning and I'm a bit surprised she only sent an acknowledgement. She introduced herself as my private banker and I never really ask them anything. Thought it'd be quite simple to deal with, especially something so small.

I had to activate the BYC over the phone, I also assumed it was auto-activated when I opened my savings pocket and saw nothing online about it..

IIRC it took me months from start to finish to get BYC activated properly with my Premier Banker. I interpreted the rules as you didn't need a top up amount (i.e. zero rands, R2, R5, etc... being presented to me as valid top up amounts). So I chose a zero top up amount and then just the extra change would be transferred to Savings Pocket. My banker agreed when I explained it to her and pointed out the rules supported my argument. Months later I picked up that I wasn't getting the points. When I brought it to her attention after more back and forth nothing could be done about my lost points and I had to choose a R2 top up amount.

Regarding level 5 on cheque account, I would not be able to get there without it costing me an extra R250 plus per month. Because to get the 300 points for a mobile /tablet device through FNB I would have to change from my Fee Saver plan which negates all my cheque account bank charges. Hence for me, credit card is the way to go. I'm able to maintain level 5 without any thought now.

@ iDOL - any move from FNB to increase their participating vendors?
If I look at uCount, from a grocery shopping perspective, there are significantly more.

Gonna be a bugger(from an input cost pov) if to get to level 5 (and earn maximum eBucks), you will need a FNB cheque AND a FNB credit card...

Are you looking for places to spend your eBucks or to earn eBucks? You can spend eBucks at Makro or Checkers / Shoprite, and you earn eBucks from FNB on all purchases on your qualifying FNB accounts (you just earn more if you shop at Checkers / Shoprite). Not sure how uCount does it?

And it's one letter away from telling you what standard bank really think of you ;-)

Understand where to earn and spend :), would like to know if FNB are going to widen their net where one can earn 'up to 15%'
For uCount -> Up to 10%* of your grocery purchases back in rewards points when shopping at any Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Food Lovers Market, Fruit & Veg City, Makro, Pick n Pay, Shoprite, SPAR and Woolworths stores countrywide using your qualifying Standard Bank debit, cheque or credit card. (did not read through t&c's)

This would have been for JUN14 'performance', rules changed on 01JUL14 - would be keen to see what points you accumulated for actual JUL14 (circa 08AUG14)

Happy to post as soon as I get them

I got my cheque account to reward level 5 without using it for spending too much, and only do certain things, like:
- 300 points for savings pocket + bank your change + min of R2000 in pocket
- 300 points for having a mobile device contract, R149 / month for the Nexus 7 was cheap, and I use it
- 100 points for having insurance for my mobile device through FNB
- 100 points for paying R5 for AA road assistance, linked to cheque account, and I have made use of their services in the last month
- 300 points for drawing cash at PNP till instead of at ATM (just need to be more from till than atm)
- 100 points for never going into a branch
- 100 points for using my cheque card to make a purchase on line. I do this via paying my Telkom bill on the Telkom website.
- 100 points for emailed statements
- 100 points for having account open for more than 3 years

That is already 1500 points. You need to get 1550 points per month for 12 months to be on reward level 5, no booster needed. The last few points you can make up by spending like R1000-2000 on your card with swipes, you need to buy groceries ect anyways. It is very easy to be on level 5 without spending too much. Your spending should dictate your ebucks that you get back, not your ebucks reward level.

Hi all,

Where in the fnb or ebucks website can I view the points I've earned in a month?
I can only see the ebucks earned

And its saying I need to open up new accounts to move from Level 1 upwards...
I have an FNB cheque account

Can it only be activated via email / phoning / going into the branch or can it be done online? I don't see the option.

Can sign up for the savings pocket online.
For the Bank my Change feature you need to phone or email. I guess you can go into a branch but why would you do that? Or just use the "contact us" feature when logged into online banking. They will get back to you.

I don't understand why everyone thinks this is an awesome feature :erm: IMO it's pointless for saving. It's only purpose is to get customers to jump through FNB hoops to get eBucks rewards points.

I agree, the interest rate received is negligible and FNB lends it back out at 10+%. We should be getting visibility of new eBucks rules in next few weeks (according to ?insider? iDOL :))
