Eish, 22seven sounds pretty dead in the water if only one bank has given them access. Then again you look at how FNB popularity has suddenly spiked and you might just find them buying the system.

Requesting users to only use 22seven with a read-only account sounds like a bad idea. How many will ignore this advice and simply use there primary credentials? Are they actually blocking 22seven from accessing information with a users primary credentials? How this should work:
1. FNB "activates" a users profile at users request for 22seven access.
2. 22Seven authenticates with FNB's system and requests temporary authorization for read-only access to the users activated profile.

FNB really seem like the most progressive bank now. They really deserved the award they got.

We found innovative solution to our 22seven security concerns. FNB Internet Customers can create a 2nd profile with View Only access.

Awesome! This is interesting. Will see if other banks follow suite. I'm not quite willing to give anyone access to my info yet.. Will wait a while and see what scams etc pop-up

Lol, epic fail. How can you develop a product and then approach banks afterward, hoping they would give you access? Dumb @rses. Should have gone to the banks before creating this product. Could easily have been a lot of time and money wasted due to retardation.

Till the first hack and everything gets hacked it's just a matter of time. After 2020 I'd rather not saamvou again. thank you.
FNB already had this read-only mode long ago in some form. I've been able to see my balance and transaction history of my Discovery Credit card on Discovery's website since I've got it in 2010. Worst thing that can happen if anything gets hacked is that your transaction history is going to be public. They can't steal money. I can't make transactions from the Discovery site, only view. It's read-only.

The press release is copypasta'd verbatim in the article, guys. Companies often blast the statements out via email before posting them on their sites to give us (the media) a period of "exclusivity".

Something people are apparently missing is that this view only secondary profile feature has been available on FNB for some time now - since before 22seven's launch, in fact.

The other is that only one bank has actively (effectively) blocked 22seven: Absa. Everyone else has issued stern warnings but they haven't gone so far as blocking Yodlee (the third-party service 22seven uses to pull/aggregate financial data from online banking).

*EDIT: sutekj beat me by a hair :) What he said.

I really think this is amazing. I've been wanting a service like this for ages. This move could make me move my main banking account to FNB. Serivices like this already exist in America. There's a site called Mint, which does the same thing, you just can't use it with South African banks, sadly.

Sorry, dont seem to be ignorant, but is this a 22seven a good thing? Im not sure what it is and what its all about. I bank with FNB and I am a bit concerned now because it sounds as tho FNB are giving access to my banking details to a third party which I have not given consent to. What's going on? Can anyone shed some light?
