Had no idea about this until a friend shared the article on FB, now I see mine says R0 to,lol. Luckily I only transfer money to my credit card when I am about to use it.

Many people transfer their money to their FNB credit card to earn eBucks, FNB have been pushing this with their app. I set a very small limit and simply transfer to it when I want to get petrol or buy grocery to earn eBucks, luckily I did all that yesterday!

EDIT:
How is this issue affecting FNB Fusion Account holders? FNB keep calling me to offer me this Fusion account but I keep saying No.
Luckily I was able to pay with my FNB Fusion account, when my card got declined twice at the till. First I was struggling with the location on thing, and now this. When is #bankzero coming online???

Glad you managed to get sorted!

Lol, with FNB and Discovery’s issues (I am on both) I am a little hesitant to even try a new Bank, think I need to go open a Capitec, Standard Bank or African Bank account, Lol!

Still stuck at R0, still no app notification or SMS.
Just saw now that if one goes onto secure chat a message pops up saying aware of issue of credit cards being declined, how is this not pushed out as a mass notification instead before people try and use the card.

How can one not have a quick roll-back plan in place as a bank?

So annoying. Petrol attendant was looking at me as if I was trying to pull a fast one after 3 failed attempts. Luckily, there was an FNB ATM.

Gawd, FNB is soooo bad. I am still desperately trying to get my better half over to Capitec.
I looked at her statement and there are 3 monthly “service” charges on her acc totalling over R300 this month. My Capitec acc with similar activity has only been charged R23.50 with service fees this month. FNB are like the Vodacom of banks, doing and getting away with whatever they dream up next.

I have Nedbank and FNB cards. While FNB gives the most control of the card through their app, the least problems I’ve had were with my Nedbank cc. It just works, for the last 15 years.

That's correct, found Nedbank and Absa cards to be most reliable consistently. Guess there is a reason why Woolworths CC sticks with them.
SBSA the normal mastercards work fine but had plenty of issues with the accessbond card they issued at a stage.

At last check SBSA and ABSA have CAT2 windows during the week, CAT1 is strictly limited to when activity is at it lowest which does translate to times outside just the Saturday/Sunday window. Capitecs footprint is a fraction of the others so while they might adhere to the similar scheduling theres much less that can go wrong. Nedbank still uses typewriters :p
Oh so Nedbank has upgraded from papyrus and bird feathers... they really making strides then, proud of them.

had this same story happen to me before, and in my case was also the FICA story,
no warning, no SMS nothing simply blocked my card. just before trying to pay for fuel.

I also had my account zeroed, although slightly differently as my card got upgraded as well and they transferred to the new account for which i do not have a card.
The problem, I never requested an upgrade

Is virgin money card is still valid?
That was my back-up card but have not used it in ages

At least Capitec SMSs one about needing to FICA before they do anything like lock the account.

This was me yesterday, after spending 2 hours at builders (after already dragging my kids to CTM and Leroy Merlin for 2 hours), standing in the queue with a few grand of finely chosen items (stock was picked, some stuff had to be fetched from the back), kids hangry as hell - and then boom, both credit cards declined (debit cards were at home)...

Capitec also has a bulk emergency SMS plan in place, should be <1 hour for a message to be sent to every client affected by it worst-case.
FNB even has an app and can't even figure out how to send an emergency push notification, great being so "tech" focused, but can't even use it correctly.
