I made a purchase on Amazon this morning and received an SMS that says the following:

FNB - Helping safeguard your account. There was a purchase made your XXXXXXX Credit Card in the name of Mr XXXXXX X XXXXXX. 28-09-2021 RXXXX.XX at A Retail Store. Reply Y if you made this purchase, N if not. Std SMS rates apply.

The numbers match up exactly with the InContact message I got, but am curious to know if I should reply to this? Am assuming they are just making sure I made this purchase as Amazon doesn't do the online purchase authentication thing? Also strange that it says "A Retail Store" even though InContact recognizes it as Amazon Marketplace.

Everything should be via the app. That's kinda the point - that we don't need to decide if an sms is suspicious or not so I'd be surprised if they were requesting authorization via sms.

It's stupid, you should only reply if you did not make the purchase, that's how it usually works.

Yeah you need to reply or they gonna call you.

Happens daily with my business and foreign purchases. It's random tho, not every purchase, or sometimes multiple of them for a single transaction which is super annoying.
