Lol yeah if you're a psychic that'll work. Buy something on Gumtree and pay two days before you saw said item on Gumtree. Just move on over to Capitec bank.
You're pretty active in FNB threads for someone who has completely disavowed them

I've never had issues with FNB pay and clear, the payment usually reflects by time time I log off and call for confirmation of funds received.

Capitec charges R8 to do immediate payment. Would love for FNB to explain why their fee is higher.

I've always wondered why some computer dependent things don't work on weekends...what, do servers go away on weekend trips?
No.. the bank makes an extra two days interest..

Note: there's always a good reason for things that seem rediculous in this day and age.
Another note: weird how they can debit your credit card at the speed of light even on weekends and public holidays (so you will have a higher balance and pay more interest) but when you pay your credit card it takes at least one day on weekdays and more on weekends.

Strange how stuff works hey!

They lowered this to R7.50. :)

Doubt this has anything to do with interest. The transaction gets banked at the end of the day, so no 'two days extra' as you mention. At best they score a few hours, excluding weekends.

Systems. Old old systems and processes. That is the reason for transfers taking this long. They have developed a system that sidesteps this and allows for instant clearing, and you are simply paying for the privilege of using it. Capitec opted to do this for cheap, while the other banks wants to pocket as much $$$ as they can.

Although I am sure there are peeps on here that understands the underlying system much better than what I do.

If I transfer (pay) my absa credit card from my absa savings account, it is instant. Same goes for my Nedbank account, within reason. I do not have a Standard Bank/FNB/Capitec one, but would assume the same thing happens there. Although Standard bank is rather slow, even with internal stuff like this...

Nothing for you and me but certainly there is a benefit for holding the money longer for some time which might be days in some cases. Once I submitted a remittance and one of the banks did not clear it for a week and they did so at their will ignoring my mails and calls. Who benefited by this? The bank obviously. Exposing people to technology and making it an advantage is not how some businesses work. They work their way.
And how does the US national debt influence this?

I had a Private Client account at FNB, Pay and Clear cost me R64 a pop, and would take at least 1 hour to reflect.

Had a client pay me from ABSA to FNB instant the other day. Took one hour.
