I see FNB have added smart device to their account list - my balance being -R1200.00 (6 months worth).

As it is an account, does that mean I can simply transfer the R1,200.00 to the Smart Device account to clear it - and a new device?

I also got added this account and tried to do exactly that. Seems as you still need to phone and get a settlement figure.

This would be so cool if they would allow this, is there anyone from FNB on the forum ?

They won't allow early settlement. Not for the outstanding amount, anyway. You need to pay for the difference between contract price and retail price as well.

As far as i understand, FNB gives you the smart device at a discount price without interest. So its the cost of the device divided by 24 months they will not loose out if you settle early. and than you have the option to get another device.

I doubt they would allow it, unless you pay "full retail price"

My note 2 I got for R6800. Full retail price is R8000. So if I want to settle early I must pay the outstanding 18payments + the R1200 discount I got.

Oh noes that's not on .......if they would change it the way OP suggested they have the added benefit of people wanting to buy more smart devices from them, but now I have to wait 2 years. Just my 2cents

The point of it is that they lock you in as a banking client for two years. Profit from bank fees > profit from smart devices.

Interesting.
My benefits (ebucks etc) exceed my fees, considerably. Yeah they make money off me with interest though :p

Hehe same. I'm a few months away from profiting through eBucks. But we are in the minority and most people will not be able to cover their banking costs through benefits.

I upgraded from a gold to platinum cheque account. I now have the option to purchase another device. Busy waiting on the Note 2 10.1

I am assuming the same will happen if you upgrade from silver to gold.

They added two smart accounts to my profile, even though I only have one device. Mailed them three times to no avail..

Does anybody know what the full prices are like for the iPad 3's? Want to settle mine asap, sent them a mail but I don't think they'll get to my request with great urgency (from past experience).

If you already have yours, go on to internet banking, and go to the smart device account and click on detailed account balance at the top once inside the account. Then it shows you, the current early settlement device there, usually a bit more than you currently still owe from the few times I looked at it.
