Can anyone who has a gold or platinum FNB account tell me whether they charge for printed and stamped bank statements. When I joined them their pricing book said 1st free per month. I got one a few weeks ago and they charged me for it! I then looked at their new (revision to the already updated book in June) pricing guide which now says free* , * = free for accounts utilising an overdraft. I don't see how they can charge for a printed bank statement (which you need for basically everything) on the unlimited pricing options. So what is the story now

I've never had issues with the emailed bank statements as these are basically the same as the posted ones.

I print the emailed statements and the company I give it to can't tell that it was printed by me and not the bank.

I have an FNB platinum account

Last time I needed printed and stamped statements, I printed them myself and went to the bank and got them stamped. Free of charge.

As far as know, they don't do this anymore as they cannot verify that you did not make any changes prior to printing. That's what they told a friend of mine a few months back. They told him that they will first check it, then stamp it and charge him as if they had printed it of their system.

Hmmm, The lady verified mine while I waited and stamped it and I was done. It was in the first quarter of the year though. Could have changed.

I phoned FNB and they confirmed - you only get a free statement if you are using an overdraft. If you don't have an overdraft they will charge you R13 per page :mad::sick: madness

A few weeks ago I took my printed statement with me to the bank with the idea that I do not want to pay. They told me they could not verify whether the document has not been tampered with. They wanted R13 per page to print my statement. I refused to pay and they then said they would print and stamp the document for free if I download my statements from internet banking inside the bank and mail it to one of the employees in the bank. I do not understand how printing the document from internet banking eliminates the cost. But this has now happened twice and if you just refuse to pay and insist that you want the statements they give it to you.

Good news for me since I started using my overdraft about 2 weeks ago and had to get bank statements over the weekend. When they say utilise, do they mean use or have?

From what I know you can print a statement from the self service machine in the branch with an employee watching you and they will stamp it free of charge.
Wish I learnt about that before I printed 2 pages and went down a level on eBucks :(

sigh WTF.... have an active overdraft (Plat Cheque), and was charged R13 per page just over a month ago. The lady, however, did recommend that next time i print the emailed statements, and bring them to be stamped
