So I just learnt this today. I wanted to buy plane tickets so I transferred 15k from one FNB bank account to another only to find out the money is not available. I call in and they tell me it takes up to 24 hours to transfer between FNB accounts. Ive never had this happen to me before. Ive done literally hundreds of payments between accounts without any delay.

This is really frustrating :/

They covering their asses.

Its normally instant.

I send money from my FNB account to my sisters, she gets it immediately. There are two balances though, the available balance and the balance. Maybe the available balance is not updating.

I have never seen a delay with one, those kinds of timeframes are normally to safeguard against delays.

Sounds daft. Should be seconds. Unless you're xferring between ZAR and CFC accounts - that takes a few hours.

15k is not a lot of money. It'll get you plane tickets.

I phoned in and spoke to two different people because I couldnt believe the first person. Cause, like all of you, every other transaction has been instant. So ****ing frustrating. I need to buy those tickets and now my own bank has screwed me.

What sort of account are you transferring from? It's odd, it should be instant when performing a transfer.

From an FNB cheque account to an FNB cheque account.

Another small frustration, is when you cant login to your online banking, cause you logged in shortly before that. You have to wait a bit before you can login. Also, if your cellphone is logged in at the same time, that can be frustrating.

I've seen a number of FNB to FNB payments getting delayed. For example, I'll get the proof of payment, can verify the payment, but nothing in my account at all. Sometimes the delay is about 1 hour, sometimes it's around 8+ hours. It only happens to payments made in the evenings though. During banking hours it's always "instant".

Then it should definitely appear immediately. Not sure what those morons at the call centre are smoking.

Is this a personal or business profile? And is this an issue when logging in from a trusted device?
